Welcome to the Daily 5 report for Monday, Oct. 13.
Late last week we honored the 150 Best Dealerships To Work For in the U.S., our annual celebration of dealerships that are creating positive work environments for their employees, regardless of their challenges.
Capitol Nissan of Salem, part of Capitol Auto Group, is No. 1 on the list. The dealership, and other honorees, were recognized during an awards celebration at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum on Oct. 9 in Nashville.
As Mark Hollmer reports, the Oregon dealership earned the top honor with a mix of initiatives including philanthropy, tickets to entertainment events, laundry service, adoption benefits, formal profit-sharing, flexible work hours and health club reimbursements.
An employee of the month at each store in the group wins $250 and a one-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Portland, Ore., where their experience helps them learn about hospitality.

Philanthropy is a huge part of employee culture, with staffers getting a full paid workday each year to donate their time to any nonprofit organization or school in the area.
Capitol Nissan, just a year old, also is ranked as the best small dealership. Capitol Auto Group, which also includes Subaru, Toyota and Chevrolet-Cadillac stores, emphasizes cross-training at all its dealerships. The vast majority of the Nissan store's 26 employees are internal hires from elsewhere in the group, which employs more than 450 people.
For the program, now in its 14th year, Automotive News partners with Workforce Research Group, which ranked the 150 franchised dealerships using employee and management feedback.

Speaking of awards, the 2026 PACE Program is open for applications.
The PACE Awards recognize traditional and nontraditional suppliers around the world for new product, process and business model innovation. Entries must be products or processes that have been commercialized by a sale to an automaker.
The deadline for applications is Feb. 9. Get more information here.
Two more stories to check out today are both product-related: Lexus is teasing a six-wheel concept at the Japan Mobility Show, and the 2026 Paris auto show, scheduled to run until Oct. 18, promises an even stronger lineup of major brands.
That's it for today. Have a great rest of your day.
