Cadillac Escalade IQ Is GM's Fourth Mighty, Electric Brute The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ has arrived, offering maximalist EV shoppers a mobile living room that's likely more luxurious and tech-filled than their actual living room, including an infotainment screen that stretches across most of the dash. The SUV itself is based on the same platform that already gave us the GMC Hummer and the Chevrolet Silverado EV, to name a couple. So it already offers an impressive set of numbers with 750 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque, and well north of 400 miles of range. It is arguably Cadillac's most important new vehicle of the entire decade. And an even longer version is on the way soon, with even more range. But it's not cheap. And it does come with some limitations, including a hefty curb weight. We recently drove the Escalade IQ in Northern California, where you'll certainly see a lot of these in the near future, and we were pretty impressed by its features and overall experience. Here's what the Cadillac Escalade IQ will offer those with the scratch and the garage space to afford one. |

This Brand Now Promises Five-Minute EV Charging EV charging that takes as long as a fuel fill up is still the holy grail for EV makers and the charging industry, with the limitations of battery technology and charging infrastructure currently standing in the way of this goal. This month Chinese automaker BYD demonstrated just such a system, permitting EVs to recharge at 1,000 kW, thereby adding 249 miles of range in just five minutes. And it's headed into production, with plans for thousands of such chargers across the country. But one other technology might actually make more sense, and produce less strain on the grid. And it has already made its way to Europe, unlike BYD's megawatt chargers. |

Here's How Bentley Is Getting Ready for EVs Not long ago Bentley pushed back its goal of having an all-EV lineup from 2030 to 2035, amid similar moves by other automakers. But the first battery-electric Bentley is on its way long before either year rolls around on the calendar, and at the moment the boutique luxury automaker is readying the factory that will produce it. We got a shadowy glimpse of just what Bentley's first EV will look like in 2024, with the marque promising an urban SUV positioned below the Bentayga in size. But we wouldn't rule out the eventual arrival of an electric Bentayga as well between now and 2035. And Bentley still has more PHEVs planned. Here's what else we can expect from the brand over the next 10 years. |
