2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Goes Electric The earliest EVs from Mercedes-Benz in the modern era were not small vehicles by any measure. And that's perfectly understandable, as EV batteries were and remain heavy, with equally hefty EV prices also creating expectations of interior space and luxury accommodations. The marque's next EV will actually be based on one of its smaller sedans, though it will still wear a very long badge. The CLA 250+ with EQ Technology and the CLA350 4Matic with EQ Technology will be the two electric flavors of the new CLA-Class, with both sharing an 85-kWh battery. This will buy the milder of the two 268 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque, while the dual-motor CLA 350 4Matic will serve up north of 300 hp. Both are making their way stateside later this year. Here's what else to expect from this duo. |

Tesla and Lucid Execs Form EV Sports Car Brand With the MG Cyberster trapped on the other sides of the Atlantic and Pacific, and with the second-gen Tesla roadster nowhere in sight, it's a tough picture for those who've been waiting for an electric roadster with or without rocket-assisted handling. Now, a team of former Tesla and Lucid execs have formed a brand that aims to offer a handmade duo of electric sports cars, dubbed simply Roadster and Speedster. Longbow promises light curb weighs, quick launches, and relatively reasonable prices for handmade cars, at least for those who will be able to eventually buy them in their home countries. But it doesn't exactly promise mass production. Here's what the new Longbow brand is about. |

Lexus RZ Adds Shifts and Sounds with Refresh The Lexus RZ hasn't been around all that long, but it's already getting a serious update that concerns just about all the major systems, including the battery and motors that may have seemed to be on the milder side at launch. And this means new badges for the rear hatch, as well as something the automaker calls Manual Drive that will make noises. (Yes, really). First up is a new RZ 550e F Sport variant with a reworked drive system and more battery capacity, along with a new version of its steer-by-wire system. The single-motor RZ 350e will get a boost in power as well, though the new output might still prioritize range over performance. But an entirely new experiment for Lexus with this update will be the Manual Drive feature. Here's what Lexus has shared so far about the planned updates to Lexus' electric crossover that will land here later this year. |
