Maserati's Electric GranTurismo Folgore Is Really Complicated—And Really Fun Maserati is now among the sports car makers actively preparing for an EV future, while seeking not to lose sight of its performance pedigree. It's a delicate balance, to say the least, and one that will require navigating the various investments needed, all without diluting brand DNA while converting new buyers to the brand. That's no easy task even for the production volumes of a large automaker, which Maserati certainly is not. But with the long-promised Tesla Roadster nowhere in sight, Maserati just might have a monopoly on two-door electric sports cars for a while. Just like several other marques, Maserati's path toward electrification will include offering EVs and internal combustion models in nearly identical wrappers. At least at first. The sports car maker's first EV, which we've just driven in Italy in prototype form, is the GranTurismo Folgore. Powered by three electric motors, it serves up well over 700 hp while drawing juice from a 92.5-kWh battery. Does its handling on the track and other attributes live up to the promise of the brand? Read on to find out what to expect from this new model, and how much it will cost.

Mack's Electric Truck Could Be a Fleet Game-Changer When it comes to electric trucks, most of the discussion over the past few years has focused on a certain Semi truck, in development for what seems like ages, or a dizzying variety of small startups promising futuristic and frugal last-mile delivery vans. Between these two ends of the spectrum, there are plenty of other truck categories, This week truck maker Mack, known for its Bulldog hood mascot, unveiled its first medium-duty electric model. With a single-motor 4x2 layout, the MD Electric targets a vastly popular commercial customer base, one that has been relying mostly on diesel trucks for decades. And there are plenty of reasons why this segment is ripe for going electric. But Mack is not the only truck maker that's turning its diesel designs into electric ones. Read on to find out why this could be the first major truck category to go electric en masse.
