2026 Cadillac Optiq-V Leans on the Lyriq In standard form, the Cadillac Optiq seems very domesticated, with 300 hp and 345 lb-ft of torque and power sent to all four wheels. That's enough for most buyers in this segment these days, and with 5.2-second sprints from 0 to 60 mph for the morning commute, it's difficult to argue with. But the new Optiq-V, on sale soon, has other ideas. The revised powertrain, borrowed from the Lyriq-V, serves up 519 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. And the souped-up motors are just one part of the recipe. As usual with such efforts, there is a bit of a range penalty. Here are the details on this electric SUV, including how much it will cost when it goes on sale. |

Only 16% of Americans Would Buy an EV, AAA Finds Some industry players and observers have long taken for granted that EV adoption is going solely in one direction, and that a steady rise in EV popularity has been guaranteed. But a new AAA study this year found that only 16% of Americans said they were "likely" or "very likely" to buy an EV as their next car. Some of the reasons the respondents gave were a little surprising, but most were things we've heard quite a bit over the past decade. What's worrying, however, is that the AAA survey suggests that the percentage of those who said they were "unlikely" or "very unlikely" to buy an EV has grown noticeably just in a few short years. Here's what else this survey uncovered. |

These EV Battery Swap Stations Are Getting a Boost Not long ago, battery swap stations seemed like an evolutionary dead end in the battery world. But now there are thousands of them, and one American company is betting big on this technology that now looks far more promising. The company is called Ample, and it has kicked off a battery swap project for a fleet of EVs in Madrid, installing the first stations that can swap out an EV's battery in just minutes. But can this method scale all that easily, or is this still a relatively niche approach? Ample isn't the only one building battery swap stations, and several notable automakers are already on board with this tech that has proven useful in China. |
