Small packages often bring BIG fun. Such is the case with this 1958 Meadows Friskysport.
Mark Green has a fantastic sense of humor. It didn't come standard with a Meadows micro car, but the ability to laugh at the world, and yourself, sure comes in handy when you own one.
Green is the proud and happy owner of a 1958 Meadows Friskysport — a VERY small car enjoyed by a very small fraternity of owners. There's likely only about 75 Friskys in the world, and only 15 known '58 Sport convertibles like the one Green's father bought 57 years ago that still remains part of the family. And the guy who sold it to them was a little whacky himself. Literally.
One owner wondered what to do with the world's oldest De Soto. Display the relic for the whole world to see, of course.
Curt McConnell has the world's oldest De Soto, but he has a problem: What should he do with it?
McConnell bought the car about five years ago in a condition a bit worse than shown here, which isn't saying much. He was apparently the first person in more than 90 years to appreciate the significance of the extremely low serial number enough to research it.
How Packard realized the add-ons added to the salability of their cars.
A burgeoning automotive accessory industry gets partial credit for the decline of expensive custom-made automobiles and the marked improvement in desirability of lower-priced models. How? Extra add-ons spiffed up the vehicle exteriors while making the operation and ride more pleasurable and a bit more dynamic. In effect, a vehicle could be personalized at reasonable cost.
The price might be a bit steep for our pocket book but... Man, this 1986 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 checks off all the boxes for us.
OK, this one has touched off a bidding war on Bring a Trailer, so we can't honestly say "We'd Buy That!" because the price has already soared to $47,500 as of this writing. But if a bunch of guys weren't fighting over it, we'd definitely love to have this awesome '86 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45. These babies are clearly hot on the collector market, and it's not too hard to understand why. They are pretty scarce, and they are cool!
