2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Reinvents an Icon For years EV makers have studiously avoided the coupe bodystyle when planning their EV lineups, and perhaps with good reason. But this dry spell has come to an end with the debut of the Dodge Charger Daytona, as it slides into dealerships with a very reasonable starting price for this day and age. Powered by a 100.5-kWh battery, Dodge's electric muscle car promises up to 670 hp in the Scat Pack flavor, but there are a few tradeoffs to be made for that amount of horsepower. For one thing, it won't be exactly light, thanks to the battery. And there is a price to pay in terms of range for more power, as you've guessed by now. But will these specs still impress those who've been memorizing the horsepower and 0-to-60 mph launch times of the latest crop of electric sedans, or who have been waiting for Tesla's next-gen Roadster with its promised rocket-assisted handling? We've driven the new Charger Daytona just days ago, and there are a few things about it that might surprise you. |
