Tesla Still Talking Up Roadster, a Cheaper Model, and Robotaxis Tesla had stumped EV enthusiasts and investors alike with its plans for humanoid robots. Despite all the distractions, the Austin-based EV maker is still working on EVs. And the Roadster is still one of the planned vehicles, even though it's been a few years since we saw it in concept form. But is the pricey second-gen Roadster likely to pay the bills, or will it be more of a cost-no-object halo car? This is where megawatt charging systems may be needed, especially if the trucking industry has a hope of ever going electric with ranges that stretch beyond solely last-mile delivery. A number of megawatt charging systems are now in the works, with one prototype recently shown charging a semi at 1025 kW. But even 3,000 kW is possible, this company says. |
