The 2025 Ram REV Targets 500 Miles of Range Ram is about to join the electric truck party with the Ram 1500 REV, and just days ahead of the New York auto show the truck maker has finally shared the long-awaited details about its first entry into a rapidly growing segment. And as we learned this week, the truck maker is betting on range. Massive range. Ram revealed that its 1500 REV would be powered by a 168-kWh battery as a standard feature, greatly exceeding even the optional battery pack offered by the Ford F-150 Lightning. But the 168-kWh battery, which will give the truck an expected range of 350 miles, will pale in comparison to the optional long-range battery the truck maker will also offer, setting its sights on up to 500 miles of range. Yes, you're read that correctly: Ram is after 500 miles of range with the 1500 REV, eager to make its debut electric model a viable choice for those truck owners used to long distance trips as well as towing. Range is not the only attribute in which Ram plans to upstage the competition, with the truck promising well over 600 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque. Its payload capacity will also represent a gain over the comparable internal combustion truck Ram offers. A few more details are on the way just ahead of the start of the New York auto show, with the annual event slated to offer EV shoppers a lot to see and experience. Read on to find out more details about the Ram 1500 REV. |

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV Delivers High-Tech Luxury It won't be long before every Mercedes-Benz model will have an electric sibling, and this month it was the turn of the EQE SUV to get an up close look, as we took one for a drive in Portugal. Joining Stuttgart's busy electric lineup, the EQE SUV will slide in between the boxier EQB and the plusher EQS SUVs, landing in what has been a very popular size category, at least in the world of internal combustion models. Will this success translate to EVs? Mercedes certainly appears to be taking electric sport utilities seriously, with not one but three versions of the EQE SUV on the way. And that's even before we get an AMG version. The lineup kicks off with the EQE 350+, which serves up 288 hp and a range just below the 300-mile mark. The EQE 350 4Matic keeps the 288-hp rating but throws in a second motor and a lot more torque, while the EQE 500 4Matic adds over a hundred more horsepower to the dual-motor layout. In all three flavors, a 90.6-kWh battery pack lives under the floor. The numbers don't tell the whole story, of course, as Mercedes has packed the EQE SUV with a lot of tech, including rear-wheel steering that will provide for far more nimble maneuvering. That's not the only piece of tech that electric SUV shoppers can look forward to in this new model. Read on to find out what else the EQE SUV will offer, and how much it will cost.

Will EV Charging Robots Be Common in the Future? A decade ago inductive charging seemed like it would be ubiquitous by now, with experts predicting charging pads under EVs in many owners' garages. Instead, with charge anxiety running rampant, it's turned into an arms race to produce the fastest charging EV possible. But will charging robots, now being developed by a number of companies and automakers, become commonplace in a few years? The latest contestant is a wheeled robot developed by NaaS Technology, and it differs from those we've seen from Volkswagen and Hyundai in that it brings its own power source, acting as a mobile battery. The robot has been designed to automatically seek out EVs that need charging, open their charging ports, and wirelessly accept payment. The robot can also recharge itself, as it needs quite a bit of power for its mobile battery. This convenience feature seems futuristic at the moment, but so did battery swap stations until a few years ago. Now, big companies are betting that charging robots will become a convenience and accessibility item in the coming years, able to be summoned remotely to a parked EV via an app no matter where the owner is at the time. Read on to find out more about this trend.
