The 2025 Polestar 4 Embraces Modernity and Aerodynamics Polestar took the wraps off its next EV at the Shanghai auto show this week, revealing a fashionably styled SUV coupe crossover with one curious design feature that's sure to spark conversation. And it shares a platform with a certain electric Lotus model. "With Polestar 4 we have taken a fundamental new approach to SUV coupé design," says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. "Rather than simply modifying an existing SUV, giving it a faster roofline and as a result, compromising elements like rear headroom and comfort, we have designed Polestar 4 from the ground up as a new breed of SUV coupé that celebrates rear occupant comfort and experience." The Polestar 4 in dual-motor flavor promises well over 500 hp and up to 372 miles in the WLTP cycle, along with exterior dimensions close to the Volvo EX90. These are attributes that should make it a compelling performance choice from a brand that's still gaining momentum in the US and elsewhere. One thing the Polestar 4 doesn't promise is a rear window. That's right—Polestar has opted for a glass roof, but one that doesn't quite descend far enough to the long trunk lid to provide much rear visibility. It's a interesting choice, but also one you'd probably have to see in person to evaluate properly. Read on to find out when to expect the Polestar 4 stateside.

VW ID.7 Revealed Just as EV Sedan Battle Heats Up The VW ID.7 electric sedan made its debut this week, after many months of camouflaged sightings around Europe. The automaker's next EV model to head stateside after the ID.4 sets its sights directly on the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and the Tesla Model 3, with the latter still recording plenty of sales as it approaches the sixth anniversary of its production start. What does the ID.7 bring to the EV sedan universe? A family look, for starters, with VW opting for very similar styling to the ID.4 electric SUV, lending it a conservative look. A slippery drag coefficient of approximately 0.23 helps its long-distance ambitions, while a long wheelbase buys passengers plenty of legroom. A 15-inch infotainment touchscreen dominates the cockpit, replacing many buttons in accordance with EV trends, but VW doesn't quite stray into minimalism in designing the cabin. When it comes to battery and range, VW plans for the familiar 77-kWh unit to be offered at launch when the ID.7 gets here. But a larger 86-kWh battery will be on the menu later on as well. VW is promising the smaller of the two to be good for 382 miles in the WLTP cycle, but this number will certainly take a bit of a hit when the EPA weighs in on the subject. Read on to find out when to expect the ID.7, and just how much it might cost. |

Arizon Concept Previews Nissan's Angular EV Lineup The Nissan Ariya might be arriving stateside only now, but Nissan is already planning the next electric SUVs. The automaker unveiled a concept at the Shanghai auto show imagining just what one such future model could look like, with the Nissan Arizon concept trading the Ariya's flowing bodywork for sharper angles. And it has one detail inside that Tesla may approve of. Styled by a Chinese team, the Arizon features a tall ride height and plenty of ground clearance, features the Ariya has not sought to offer. The interior, meanwhile, largely replicates the Ariya's widescreen infotainment system, while adding a couple of futuristic touches. "Designed to be human-centric, the Arizon concept features a new virtual personal assistant named Eporo that elevates the driving experience beyond mobility," the automaker notes. "Eporo can interact with passengers in a human-like manner and provide accurate responses utilizing time, weather, and other data." Could this concept be a preview an electric version of the Rogue? Read on to find out more about this concept.
