Becoming a Corvette owner as a toddler makes for a lifelong fan.
As the sun set on a warm summer day last July, 35-year-old Brack Gillespie drove home to Green Bay, Wis., from the Iola Car Show with the top down and the sun on his neck behind the wheel of his 1960 Chevrolet Corvette, a car he's known nearly all of his life. Next to him, in the turquoise passenger seat, was the green canvas duffel bag once belonging to a man he barely knew — his father.
This year's dates for the annual Eastern Division Fall Nationals in Hershey, PA are October 4-7. This is a change from the decade's long tradition of a Wednesday to Saturday event. Due to Hersheypark being open on weekends this year for a new venture, the grounds are not available to us on Saturday. As such, vendor load-in is on Monday and the car show is on Friday.
A unique Duesenberg reprised its early role as Concours winner by taking the top prize at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
This year, 40 classic cars from 18 countries and 33 states pulled onto the competition field of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and the car named Best of Show was the 1932 Duesenberg J Figoni Sports Torpedo of Lee R. Anderson Sr.
Who wouldn't want a 1954 Hudson Jet in green? We sure would buy that!
What the heck???!! A 1954 Hudson Jet? We can't remember the last time we saw one of these in the flesh. We'd love to know how many of these unusual early compact cars are left, and it's a good bet not many of them are cuter or more appealing than this neat green-and-white example for sale in New Braunfels, Texas.
