Slate EV Truck Has Low Price, Lots of Accessories It's safe to say the first batch of electric pickup trucks has been on the maximalist side in every metric, ranging from horsepower to curb weight to price. But there seems to be demand for something on the opposite end of the spectrum as well: An EV truck with a modest footprint, a spartan interior, and a low starting price. That's just what a new company called Slate promises, having revealed a compact and endlessly customizable pickup (or SUV, if you buy the parts) that could start south of the $30,000 mark before any incentives are applied. After they're applied, the starting price could drop below $20,000. (Of course, these incentives also have to continue to exist in the coming years). Quite a bit has to happen before one of these ends up in your driveway, or anyone's driveway for that matter, with production expected to start next year. Here are the specs that this truck promises. |

Tesla Announces It Will Sell a Basic, Entry-Level EV That Costs Less The long-anticipated $25,000 Tesla model may have fallen victim to shifting priorities, as well as much more affordable competition from China. But the Austin-based automaker hasn't lost sight of what matters in the EV world, especially in our current inflation-stained reality. Tesla is now hinting at a more affordable Model Y crossover that could start under the $30,000 mark. And it could be here quite soon. If it does indeed hit this ambitious price point while still offering many of the features of the Model Y, Tesla could quickly reverse its declining fortunes at a time when its competitors are gaining on it. But quite a few things have to come together for this to happen. Here's what we could see in this future model. |

2026 Lexus ES Goes Hybrid and EV Toyota and Lexus haven't exactly rushed into the EV sedan segments early on. But this will change soon as the next-gen Lexus ES will get the option of a battery electric powertrain. Just what this luxury electric sedan will look like was previewed in Shanghai this week, with Lexus planning single- and dual-motor versions of the sedan, slated to be badged ES 350e and ES 500e. And judging from the specs released thus far, it should be able to add some much-needed variety to a field that has long been dominated by Tesla and a number of its German competitors. |
