2026 Jeep Recon EV Is Getting a Little More Real The Jeep Recon is on the way later this year, and the first glimpses of the near-production electric SUV were revealed by the automaker just days ago. A boxy companion to the Wrangler, the Recon will still feature removable doors, a tailgate-mounted spare and plenty of off-road hardware, but it should be a little plusher inside and offer a few more creature comforts than the Wrangler. Based on the STLA Large platform shared with the Dodge Charger Daytona and the freshly launched Jeep Wagoneer S, the Recon should also offer plenty of range for those intent on taking it far from paved roads. It should also be one of the first truly affordable off-road-friendly electric SUVs, as just about everything else (with the possible exception of the Rivian R1S) has been aimed at luxury crossover buyers. But will it ultimately find an audience among Jeep buyers, or EV buyers? Here's what we expect from the 2026 Recon. |

Volvo Teases ES90 Ahead of Reveal Volvo's electric sedan flagship will be revealed next month, slated to use the same platform as its new EX90 SUV. But large EV luxury sedans, if you've noticed, aren't in short supply right now, with a wide variety of models from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lucid and others, and still more are on the way. This means Volvo will need this model to stand out in a sea of high-priced competitors. Nvidia's Drive AGX Orin computer system just might help it do that. But other factors like price and range will be important in a still-expanding segment that appears to have largely run out of sales momentum a couple of years ago. Here's what we expect from Volvo's upcoming EV sedan. |

Could the Kia EV4 Sedan and Hatch Make Sense Here? The Tesla Model 3 is still going strong, having just received a major update last year, and it's still dominating its segment by a significant margin. But what about an electric sedan that would be just a little smaller and more affordable? That's just what Kia unveiled a few days ago, along with a hatchback based on the same platform. And they're headed into production soon. But would such a duo make sense in North America? |
