Welcome to today's edition of the Daily 5.
Today's report is dominated by product news from Ford Motor Co. Our longtime Ford scribe Michael Martinez goes deep into the future product plans at Ford and Lincoln, along with a breaking story early this morning on the Blue Oval's plan for the 2025 Bronco Sport.
Ford's future product pipeline will be punctuated by an emphasis on its subbrands that include Mustang, Maverick and Bronco.
It's an exciting plan from CEO Jim Farley and his team, but the challenge will be to fix quality. Ford continues to lead the industry in U.S. recalls this year with 43 callbacks, according to the latest data from NHTSA. It also led the industry the previous three years.
Meanwhile, Farley and all the automotive CEOs' compensation can be seen today in our 2023 executive compensation report. Farley ranked relatively low at No. 22, with $14 million in total compensation, but note, that figure depends on how his stock options are calculated. Ford itself reported Farley's total compensation was $26.5 million in 2023.
Not on the list was Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, who pulled down nearly $40 million but doesn't appear on our list because Stellantis is not a U.S. company.
And a couple more stories to check out: Hyundai Motor America marketing exec Angela Zepeda is leaving the automaker after losing her CMO title.
Here's an excellent look at how artificial intelligence is powering the latest fraud trends.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, we'll have a story about how Toyota's Lexus brand has used its ongoing benchmarking of German luxury brands to help design new vehicles.
That's it for today. Have a great rest of your day.
