Electrify Expo reinvents the auto show for the EV era, but it's not just about cars

If you have trouble reading this message, view it in a browser. 15 Cool Bikes, Scooters, and Other Things from Electrify Expo      In just four short years the Electrify Expo has grown to eight US cities, offering EV-minded shoppers the opportunity to test drive just about everything electric under the sun, from an electric skateboard to an electric motorcycle.    The third Expo of 2024 has just reached Long Beach, California, after stops in Orlando and Phoenix, and we dropped by to try out the latest in two- and four-wheeled things, the latter including a trailer for your Cybertruck that lives up to the design direction of the truck itself.    You may have noticed we're in the midst of something of an e-bike boom right now as well.     The Electrify Expo had those as well, in even more unusual shapes. (Who would have thought that reinventing the bicycle would turn out to be an actual business model?)    Here are 15 of the neatest electric vehicles from the Long Beach edition of the Expo. READ THE FULL STORY Should VW Offer Its €20,000 EVs Here?      Volkswagen has not one but four EVs on the drawing board that will start around the €20,000 mark, or about $21,800 at the current exchange rate. And they're coming to Europe starting in 2027 under the Cupra, Škoda, and VW brands, with all four scheduled to be built in Spain.    The Cupra brand is on its way stateside, you may recall, but the Spanish marque's first US models are bound to be very different.     In all, the automaker plans two electric compacts and two crossovers as part of this program. And at the moment, the four affordable EVs are not scheduled to land in North America.    But would they actually make sense for US buyers, given the market tastes of the current era? READ THE FULL STORY Your Next Apartment or Condo Must Have EV Charging      EV charging for city dwellers will continue to be an issue long after the EV adoption rate reaches even 50%, whenever that will actually occur. That's because overnight charging infrastructure for those who own or rent apartments has been particularly slow to appear, especially in buildings that weren't built in the past five or 10 years.     Many newly built multi-family buildings are now taking EV charging into account. But whether they include enough chargers for all residents with cars is quite a different matter.     One company is working to change the status quo, addressing some persistent roadblocks that have hampered progress in this sphere.
