2024 Fiat 500e Rolling into US Showrooms Soon The Fiat 500e is back, and this time it will offer more range. But that's not the whole story. Designed as an EV from the start, the 500e is the first in a new wave of electric models from parent company Stellantis headed stateside in the next few months. This time around a 42-kWh battery will sit underneath the floor, buying the not-so-tiny hatch 149 miles of range, according to the EPA. But used in the city, this number is bound to be a bit higher. Another number that matters will be the price, as the new 500e will face other able competitors in its general size category. Here's what to expect from the 2024 Fiat 500e. |

GM Hustling to Get PHEV Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra to Market General Motors may have made a splash with the return of the Hummer as an EV, this time under the GMC badge. And even though it was never intended as a volume model, the EV truck revolution that was expected to kick off just a couple of years ago could take a little longer to materialize, as GM and others are finding out. The latest news from GM points to a sharp turn to PHEV trucks as well as the cancellation of some EV truck models altogether, one of our sources disclosed. And the culprit, aside from slowing demand, could be the towing abilities of electric trucks, or lack thereof, making them a difficult sell to those who use their trucks for heavy-duty tasks. Here's what else is brewing at GM and Ford when it comes to BEV and PHEV trucks. |

Is Pricing to Blame for Nissan Ariya's Slow Sales? The Nissan Ariya is the EV that was supposed to follow up on the early success of the Leaf, aimed at securing Nissan's EV future stateside and elsewhere. Having finally arrived in North America after a few delays, the Ariya is now facing an ever-growing cast of competitors, and more are on the way. And it's also facing a slowing EV market with plenty of range anxiety caused by charging infrastructure that is often a gamble even on modest trips. In addition, sales of the Ariya in 2023 do not appear to have hit the mark Nissan may have wanted to achieve, during an admittedly difficult year for electric vehicles. We talked to Trisha Jung, Nissan's Senior Director of Electric Vehicle Strategy and Transformation, at the Chicago Auto Show about what Nissan is doing to help the Ariya find its audience. And we learned a few surprising things about EV shoppers. |
