GMC Charges into Full-Size EV Pickup Race with 754-HP Sierra Even before the GMC Hummer EV debuted, we knew that this version of the Ultium platform would see a number of related trucks under different brands. And by now we've all seen the Chevrolet Silverado EV, set to arrive next year as a 2024 model, promising a range of up to 400 miles. This week GM revealed yet another addition to its Ultium truck lineup, with the formal debut of the GMC Sierra EV. The Sierra EV promises a range of 400 miles on a full charge in top trim, as well as 745 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque. And it will also receive 4-Wheel Steer with CrabWalk, which debuted in the Hummer EV. "This is the Denali of EVs—and a truck that is every bit a GMC," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC. "That means it leaves nothing on the table when it comes to hauling, towing, and overall power while unlocking even more possibilities around what a GMC pickup can offer." But it won't be quite as affordable as its Silverado EV sibling, at least when it comes to Denali Edition 1 models. Read on to find out what to expect from this full-size electric truck.

Here's What to Expect from the Sony-Honda EVs It has now been a couple of years since Sony surprised the world with a prototype of an electric car. The EV sedan, featuring sleek styling not too dissimilar from that of a Tesla, appeared remarkably complete and ready for production, with components sourced from a group of companies including Magna Steyr. Sony made some non-committal comments at the time regarding the sedan's production chances while stressing interior infotainment tech, but soon followed it up with an SUV concept. Now, it's much clearer what the electronics giant had in mind. Sony has teamed up with Honda this year, forming Sony Honda Mobility Inc., with plans to produce EVs in the US. "Sony is aiming to contribute to mobility evolution with the vision of transforming mobility as an entertainment space," said Yasuhide Mizuno, chairman and CEO of the new company. "Meanwhile, Honda has been promoting a transformation, shifting to product with hardware and software integrated. In order to lead the transformation of mobility, we need to take a drastic approach, totally different from the traditional way of automobile production." Read on to find out just when we'll see the first EVs from this collaboration. |

Should the Jeep Avenger EV Be Offered Stateside? Jeep took the wraps off the Avenger this week, revealing its first electric model at an unusual venue—the Paris Motor Show. Smaller in size than the Compass and Renegade by a significant margin, the Avenger is the pocket-sized EV that is ready for the urban forest, but perhaps not every actual forest. Powered by a 54-kWh battery, the Avenger has a single motor up front good for 156 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque, with Jeep promising a range of 249 miles in the WLTP cycle. This should land it right in the sweet spot of EVs similar in size, if not making it a leader in this category, as the EPA range would likely end up around the 200-mile mark. However, there is one other major asterisk when it comes to the Avenger aside from a lack of four-wheel drive: This EV won't actually be offered stateside. Other electric models are on certainly on the way from the automaker, so North America won't miss out on Jeep EVs. But for now the Avenger is meant solely for Europe, where its dimensions will permit it to compete with other subcompact electric crossovers. Could the Avenger still do well stateside if it were offered here? Read on and let us know in the comments.
