Toyota will build two electric SUVs in two neighboring states

Here's What EV Toyota Could Build in Indiana      Toyota plans to built not one but two three-row electric SUVs in the US starting next year. And this week the automaker shared details about just where these new models will be built, revealing upgrades to its Princeton, Indiana, plant to get it ready for EV production.     Yet another Toyota plant in Kentucky will make a different three-row electric SUV as well, starting in 2025. And both plants will use batteries that will be produced in a new factory in North Carolina that will come online next year.    But just what will these two SUVs look like, and what will they be called?    Read on to see some of the possibilities based on recent Toyota EV concepts. READ THE FULL STORY Hertz Is Selling Off More EVs after Major Losses      Hertz made a big splash in 2021, revealing plans to buy some 100,000 Tesla Model 3s for its fleet of rental cars in addition to EVs from other automakers.     But the EV experiment has turned out to be far less than ideal for Hertz's bottom line when it came time to service and eventually sell the EVs once they've reached a certain mileage.    The rental giant has posted serious losses relating to the EVs in its fleets, and now plans to sell 30,000 of them this year.    The move raises a question: Are the maintenance costs and depreciation Hertz faced with EVs all that different than what typical EV owners might have also faced after a couple of years of ownership? READ THE FULL STORY Rivian Will Open Its Charging Network to Other EVs      Rivian's Adventure Network of DC fast-chargers, originally intended just for Rivian owners, will be opened to owners of other EVs starting later this year, just as Tesla has worked with a dozen other automakers to open up its Supercharger network to many other EVs.    But Rivian's network is quite a bit smaller than Tesla's, having kicked off construction considerably later.    And as Rivian itself moves to adopt Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) in its own vehicles, there might be a period when Rivian stations will feature both CCS and NACS connectors.    Rivian also took the wraps off a new generation of charger a few days ago, one which will be installed at newly built stations, and it has a few improved features.    Here's how this transition period might look like.
