Final-year AMC AMX remains in a longtime AMC enthusiast's hands. In September 1970, I took delivery of my new 1971 Hornet SC/360. What a car! Somehow, the clutch had failed that fall, and while it was being repaired, the dealer, Zantello Ramber in Allegan, Mich., gave me a new 1970 AMX to drive. Wow! Another exciting car! When the Hornet was ready to go, he called and asked about the AMX. I wanted it! I did the necessary paperwork and kept the car. Based on my past practices of buying and selling cars almost monthly, he asked, "And how long do you think you'll keep this car?" My immediate response was, "Forever!" |

After 40 years Cadillac Parts and Restoration's (CPR) restoration facility not only offers a walk back in time to the 1950s & 1960s but also provides plenty of beautiful classic Cadillacs in all phases of restoration. Poughkeepsie, NY – It was humble beginnings from which the world's leading classic Cadillac restorer was formed. In 1984, out of a spare room in a 1744 Hudson Valley farmhouse recently purchased and under restoration, Elsa Mauer Nicodemus began a small mail-order business, F.E.N. Enterprises, selling correct Cadillac upholstery and old Cadillac parts. Working hard to maintain a work-family balance between her new enterprise, her established career as an in-demand production pattern maker in the garment industry while raising three young children, the parts business grew and soon flourished. With a strong entrepreneurial spirit and seeing the demand and needs of many classic Cadillac owners, Mauer Nicodemus decided to add restoration services to her successful parts business and by the end of 1989 had a pole barn constructed to handle both. Thus began a saga that would eventually lead to an international reputation as a world-renowned provider of Cadillac restoration and preservation services. |
