Lucid Motors Offers Discounts as Demand Shrinks The prices for various versions of the Lucid Air looked daunting when they were first announced, but such was the cost of industry-leading range, as many pointed out. A year later Lucid appears to be running into a familiar issue. Namely, everyone who wanted a particular car ordered early or received it, and now the automaker must convert those who may—or may not—have been thinking about purchasing one. Also, Lucid Motors inevitably experienced the awkward timing of launching a six-figure flagship at a time when the industry was beginning to move past early adopters. That era is now solidly in the rear-view mirror, which is something Faraday Future could also discover when (and if) its FF91 finally reaches production. Lucid is dealing with another issue, too: Retaining those who abandoned their orders. The company is reportedly tackling this issue with steep discounts, just to get those customers back on board. It has gotten to the point that new Lucid Airs are now showing up on Bring a Trailer for well under their window sticker prices. Here are the kinds of deals you can get now.

Curiously Bollinger-Like EV Rolls Out from UK Startup Munro If you required a go-anywhere vehicle with a tall ride height, the exterior paint of the F-117 stealth fighter, bodywork flat enough to be invisible to enemy radar, and a really high price, Bollinger was your ticket. Now, Bollinger has an unlikely competitor from Scotland called Munro, and it even looks like Bollinger's models. (Of course, there is perfectly good reason for this: the styling was done by the same guy). The Munro Mk1 wants to be a back-to-basics 4x4 that just happens to be electric. It has aluminum bodywork, a steel ladder frame, a two-speed transfer case, and two live axles—all classic and familiar hardware. But power is delivered from a centrally mounted electric motor, drawing juice from a 61.2-kWh battery—and all this without Bollinger's high price tag. Interested? Here's What VW Plans for the MEB+ Platform Volkswagen's MEB platform currently underpinning the VW ID.4 and several other EVs sold in Europe and Asia is just a few years old, but US buyers have only really seen just one vehicle that features it. Still, Wolfsburg is already planning the for the next step. Certainly, VW has some work to do when it comes to rolling out more EVs stateside. It plans to introduce 10 new VW models before 2026, some of which will actually make it here. But the automaker is also working on improving the MEB platform itself, targeting ranges of up to 435 miles on a single charge, as well as charging speeds of 175–200 kW.
