An old-time Ford Christmas

The spirit of Christmas was always apparent in the pages of Ford's in-house publications, Ford Times and Ford News.

From 1910 to 1942, the spirit of Christmas was always apparent in the pages of Ford's in-house publications, Ford Times and Ford News. Ford Times, for example, featured Santa holding a Model T Ford on the cover of the December 1913 issue, and a stocking with a Model T stuffed in it appeared on the cover of the December 1916 issue. The cover of the December 1914 issue showed a boy hanging up his Christmas list by the fireplace. Inside, there was a greeting to more than 1 million readers "with the earnest wish that they and theirs may surely enjoy 'A Merry Christmas.'"

The Studebaker National Museum recently acquired the Bonnie Doon Special, a Studebaker-powered Midget race car. This car was built by W.C. "Barney" Barnum of Mishawaka, Indiana, in 1948, and sponsored by the Bonnie Doon Ice Cream Company.

Ponchos top honchos at the Raleigh Classic winter auction

The Raleigh Classic Winter Auction on December 2-3 saw Pontiacs holding there own.

The Pontiac brand is alive and well judging from the results of the Raleigh Classic winter auction.

The top honcho was a 1958 Pontiac Bonneville that hammered for $178,200 including 8% commission. This Bonneville appeared to be lacking nothing and has been a show car all its life. I awarded this 1959 Pontiac the coveted # 1 Old Cars condition rating.

We'd Buy That: 1958 Edsel Corsair

A gold-and-white two-tone painted '58 Edsel. Yeah, we'd buy that!

There're a lot of interesting cars for sale these days at Country Classic Cars in Staunton, Ill., and one that really got us to stop scrolling was this sweet 1958 Edsel Corsair two-door hardtop.

Everything about this baby just seems right! Even if you aren't an Edsel fan (and back then, not many folks were!), it's hard not to be impressed by this sweet thing. It's rare, it's got a great gold-and-white two-tone paint scheme and according to the listing "was recently rescued out of long-term storage and is in amazing original condition." And honestly, who doesn't want a car with a steering-wheel-mounted push-button transmission? We're throwing up a hand.
