THE CAR: THIS IS A ONE OWNER – LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE – IT WAS PURCHASED NEW AT FAO SCHWARZ IN NEW YORK CITY – FOR $500 ( RECIEPT FROM POWER CAR SAYS $350 – BUT WE HAVE ALL THE RECIEPTS & DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS VEHICLE – THIS CAR WAS LOVED HARD & USED HARD BUT IT IS ALL ORIGINAL THIS FAMILY WERE/ARE THUNDERBIRD PEOPLE – THE DAUGHTER STILL HAS THE REAL DEAL, A 1955 TBIRD CONVERTIBLE. The only thing the daughter asks is for the new owner to love & enjoy this car as much as she and her brother did.
Lloyd Grimm was a U.S. Marshall, If you are old enough to remember Wounded Knee in South Dakota, Lloyd was the US Marshall shot & paralyzed. A collector of some cars (FAO Schwartz mostly) he purchased some fabulous German Mfg. cars Germany US Zone etc.. After his injury the collection just grew & grew – 200+ Friction Cars and then the Danbury & Franklin Mint cars came out. They were a lot of money & still are but the quality & detail is unreal. We did not wash nor clean these cars so you are going to get some dust be did not want to do anything to damage them. He did not keep the boxes, he was not a collector – he had them out to enjoy.
Of course we cannot list every car in this collection in this medium, however, at our website, you will indeed find all the cars and everything we can tell you about them. The friction cars are dated and sometimes the writing has just faded - they are over 60 years old. Enjoy, if you are a car NUT – I owned my 1ST Model T in 1963 and you pride yourself on knowing what every car was back in the 50's - 60's – 70's ( I was one of them) please feel free to go thru the automobiles, identify & date them – I will share the info when – Thanks for reading while an old guy thinks about his past.
