Here's When Faraday Future Plans Production Start It's been a long road from concept to production for Faraday Future, and now it appears that the company is finally just weeks away from that start of production. The EV startup revealed this week that it has received $135 million in funding, which should allow it to complete the first series examples of the FF 91 Futurist starting this spring. "The company recently announced the completion of the sixth milestone, the completion of construction and equipment installation in vehicle assembly areas," the company revealed this week. "This marked the sixth of the seven milestones that FF laid out late in 2021 to mark its manufacturing achievements toward the start of production of the FF 91 Futurist." The FF 91 Futurist received an official EPA rating a few months ago—one of the last official nods from regulators. Of course, in the years it has taken the FF 91 to reach the eve of production, EV features as well as range have advanced quite a bit in the industry. The Mercedes eSprinter Wants to Electrify Your Day There are now enough electric cargo vans on the market for buyers to have some choices. Now, Mercedes has unveiled its latest electric van model, and has stuffed the biggest battery it has on the shelf into the eSprinter, details of which were revealed this week. The boxy model will be powered by a 113-kWh battery positioned between the axles, enough to give it an impressive range in the WLTP cycle. The new model will also be produced in the US in addition to Germany, so it will be a vehicle that should be ready to give BrightDrop and others some competition early on. In engineering the new eSprinter, Mercedes has divided the model into three modules. "The front module, a uniformly designed front section, includes all high-voltage components and can be combined unchanged with all vehicle variants, regardless of wheelbase and battery size," the automaker notes. "The module for the integrated high-voltage battery is located in the underbody to save space. The battery location between the axles, together with the robust battery housing, results in a low center of gravity, which has a positive influence on handling and increases driving safety." In the back, the third module houses the motor itself, which will be offered in a choice of two different outputs depending on customer needs. BMW's Neue Klasse EVs Will Be Built at This Plant BMW has reached into its rich history to name its next generation of electric models, with the Neue Klasse lineup set to arrive in just a couple of years. Among other things, the EVs in this lineup promise batteries with greater energy density compared to the ones used today, serving up improvements in charging performance and range. This month the automaker shed more light on its Neue Klasse production plans plans, giving a few more details about just where it intends to build this next generation of EVs. "The first cars of the Neue Klasse will come off the production line at our plant in Debrecen, Hungary, starting in 2025, followed by the main plant in Munich," said Milan Nedeljković, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for production. Plants in North America will join the sites in Germany and Hungary in just a few years in producing the planned EV models.
