An "Aero Warrior" 1969 Mercury Dan Gurney Drag Pak Cyclone Spoiler roars back to life.
The Daytona 500 is historic for marking the official introduction of the "Aero Cars" from Chrysler Corp. and Ford Motor Co.: the Dodge Daytona, which evolved from the aerodynamic Charger 500, the Plymouth Superbird, the Ford Talladega and the Mercury Cyclone Spoiler each made their debut on the historic super speedway.
These four Aero Cars, aka "Aero Warriors," were developed specifically to race on the NASCAR circuit by Dodge, Plymouth, Ford and Mercury for the 1969 and 1970 racing seasons. The cars were based on production automobiles, but were enhanced with more aerodynamic body features. Street versions of these Aero Warriors were offered by the manufacturers to meet NASCAR's homologation requirement, which, during this time, was set at 500 units of each model.

We'd certainly love to have this '41 Ford. This and other classics up for sale at VanDerBrink Auctions' Sept. 18 Krinke Collection sale.
It's been driven only 638 miles since being nicely restored. It's got gorgeous Mayfair Maroon paint with a matching maroon leather interior. Bumper guards, wide whites, flathead V-8, and those great lines ... she checks all the boxes.
