Paul Kammann's second choice turned out to be a pretty darn good first Packard. Kammann owns three pre-war Packards these days — along with a few other wonderful machines — and it's his 1934 Model 1100 that really kicked off his love affair with the brand. And it was a car that he wound up with almost on accident. Back in 2009, the Cleveland, Wis., resident road tripped to Ohio to check out another Packard. Click here to submit your ride! One man's road to Iola John Gunnell recalls Iola's early years as the Iola Car Show turns 50 this year on July 7-9. During the summer of 1978, I planned a road trip to the Iola Old Car Show (now called the Iola Car Show, or IOLA), where Old Cars was published, but it never happened. After looking at the 1,100-mile trip on a map (no Mapquest back then), a visit to car shows in Macungie and York, Pa., seemed to make a lot more sense. No one knew at the time that a household move to the tiny village of Iola was in the cards for me and my family. Working at Old Cars also included working at the Iola Old Car Show, and my first show was in 1979. Res. 690) at the request of the SEMA Action Network (SAN) recognizing July 8, 2022 as Collector Car Appreciation Day (CCAD). A similar resolution was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives (H. Res. 1201).
