Car of the Week: 1952 Crosley fire truck

Good thing this pint-sized Crosley creation is a fire truck... it's so hot it might catch fire!

Jayne and Norm Smith were just a couple of Crosley lovers looking for a way to amuse themselves.

They found the perfect solution, and it was nearly 30 feet long.

That was back in the mid 2000s, and since then the Smiths have become known as the restorers and owners of the nicest surviving example of a rare and wonderful creature: a 1952 Crosley fire truck amusement ride. The couple figured somebody needed to rescue the retired and deteriorating fire rig before it was too late. And even though they had never restored a vehicle themselves, they decided they were the ideal candidates.

We'd Buy That: 1969 Ford F100

The good old Ford F100 is always a sure bet. We'd buy that!

With the state of the collector pickup truck market these days, this is about as much of a "sure thing" as you're going to find: a nice, straight, '69 Ford F100 with a period topper on the back. There is huge love affair raging these days between collectors and pickups from the '60s and '70s — heck even the '80s trucks and early SUVs are hot. There are a whole lotta fellas out there who grew up with trucks like this Ranger and would be thrilled to get their hands on this one.
